Math - we will be covering a variety of topics this year including multiple digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, graphing, geometry, place value, measurement, decimals and fractions. We will be building upon prior knowledge and diving into new material. I will be incorporating technology and manipulatives and using word problems to connect each concept to the students' every day lives. Times tables should be practiced at home if not mastered, they will be needed. Reading - we will focus on vocabulary, comprehension skills and reading connections. We will be using the reader for part of the year to develop different skills and reading several novels as a class. I look forward to introducing the students to Literature Cirlces where they can read and discuss more with classmates. Social Studies - our year will be spent studying the great United States. All regions including Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and the West will be explored and we will finish the year with a State Fair project. We will learn to identify each state, what it is like living in each region, about their landforms, history and important historical events that have happened there. Religion - our main focus in Religion will be studying how Jesus would want us to act as 4th graders - accepting, kind, welcoming and making good choices. We will do this by studying topics such as morality, the sacraments, the Ten Commandments, revelation and Jesus' life. Science and English will be taught by Mrs. Murawski, please contact her or visit her page for answers to questions.
